The winemaking tradition started from 1887 by Peppino Grasso who planted the first vines and founded Cantine Grasso. Wines produced were then consistently shipped out to Piedmont and some of the famous French Chateaus, where it was used to increase the alcohol content of the wines. Till 1950s when the winery started to market well locally and dominating local wine trade.
The winery has recently been merged with the new Feudo Solaria. Alessio is still the current winemaker with the help of his sons, Tullio and Carmelo. Feudo Solaria is located in northeastern Sicily and has won over 120 awards in major wine competitions. Feudo Solaria stands for modern Sicilian wines of the highest quality.
