About Château Vieux Coutelin
Located in one of most famous appellation, Saint-Estèphe, home to symbolic wines like Cos d’Estournel and Château Montrose, a smaller vineyard, Château Vieux Coutelin offers excellent wines for good value. The 10 hectares vineyard is located in Coutelin, 10 km from famous Chateau Lafite-Rothschild, has been part of Appellation Saint-Estèphe since 1970. It has now taken over by owner of Chateau La Haye in 2015.
The terroir consisted of typical sandy gravel and limestone with old vines of nearly 50 years old. After manual harvesting, vinification is done in traditional and thermos-regulated stainless steel tanks. Thereafter a double aging is done where 70% of wines are matured in French oak barrels, 30% in new French oak barrel, to emphasize the freshness of wine.
