Introducing the Campaperi Rosso Toscano IGT 2020
Dense red ruby colour, aromas of slight earthy, fresh wood, dark berries and tobacco. Soft and fresh palate with good plush of red fruits, spicy oak and hints of vanilla. Good aromatic persistence and rich tannins. Served chilled at 18°c and well paired for red meat, savory sauce, sun dried tomatoes and cheese.
About Campaperi
Campaperi (Tuscan term for field of pear trees) is the name of the first and oldest piece of the vineyard. IL Valentiano is the producer behind Campaperi, they are an excellent producer of Brunello di Montalcino. All of their vineyards have been rated “Brunello” but all grapes that do not meet the Brunello quality goes into making of Rosso Toscano.
The vines has an average age of 15 years, with some vines are as old as in the 1960’s. South facing at an altitude of 400m above sea level. Cooled by sea winds and with rich loamy soil, the vineyard has wild pear trees line the edges of the vineyard and the grapes are all sourced from the winery’s own vineyard in Montalcino, handpicked and grown without the use of pesticides using traditional Tuscan method.
Aged for 1 year in temperature controlled stainless steel containers and 6 months in Slavonian oak barrels, the wine is the matured in bottle for 4 months before releasing to market.
