Description
Introducing the Celler Laurona Reserva Limitada 2008
Deep intense red colour with violet hues. Penetrating, complex yet subtle aroma with clear notes of blackcurrants, plums and figs. As it opens, complexity grows with scent of violent and balsamic. Surrounded with cinnamon, clove and lightly toasted. Ripe tannins and balanced acidity refreshes its long finish and invites us to repeat the experience. Serves well with meat stews, grilled meats, vegetables, cold cuts and aged cheese.
About Celler Laurona
Established in 1999 by Rene Barbier, Laurona is created with the philosophy of making the best out of terroirs in D.O. Monstant, ranges at an altitude from 200 to 700 meters.
Celler Laurona is located in Falset, in the heart of D.O. Monstant, with vineyards in 4 different areas: La Figuera with Grenache, Falset, Darmos and Masroig are grown with the varieties of Carignan, Merlot, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. With local Grenache and Carignan vines over 50 years old, together with different grapes, Laurona makes their renowned wines, distinguished for their uniqueness and style.
Painstakingly selecting grape by grape followed by controlled fermentation and long maceration, Laurona’s wine is unfiltered and aged in 500 liters French oak barrels for a 12 to 18 months before second aging in bottle till optimal evolution. With the complexity of the old vines, the distinctive elegant wine is then launched.
Robert Parker and Guia Penin have always rated Laurona over 90 points! It has also been included twice in 100 Most competitive wines in the world (2003, 2006) by the prestigious magazine Wine Spectator.
